One look at the current retirement schedule for LEGO Super Mario reveals that by the start of 2027, only three sets will remain on shelves. These include
Every other LEGO Super Mario model, including mostly those aimed at a younger audience as part of the course-building system, is due to be retired before 2027. By July 2026, the only LEGO Super Mario sets not retired will be three of the four starter packs and a single Mario Kart model.

It's spelling the end of the course-building system after six years, moreso now that we know what is coming to LEGO Super Mario in 2027. The arrival of the long-awaited Super Mario minifigures and the recent debut of SMART Play and SMART Minifigures mean that a suitable replacement for the older electronic platform and figure is attainable.

Alternatively, more traditional models with the minifigures can always be pursued instead in LEGO Super Mario next year. Either way, the retirement of every course-building set and the arrival of Mario minifigures in 2027 likely means the end of the road for the system that started LEGO Super Mario.
