Following a surprise early look at LEGO Super 71426 Piranha Plant, it appears the buildable plant has more posable options than many might first think.
After LEGO Super Mario 71426 Piranha Plant made a surprise appearance at Target stores in the US, LEGO YouTuber MiniSuperHeroesToday managed to pick up a copy of the set ahead of its official release date on November 6. His video review of the LEGO Super Mario set offers a sense of the actual size of the display-focused set, something that is often hard to gauge from pictures alone.

While it's certainly more of a display set than many of its interactive predecessors in the LEGO Super Mario theme, 71426 Piranha Plant does have some play features. More parts of the brick-built plant are posable than you may have first realised from the description of the set, with not just the head and jaws being able to move, but also the leaves sprouting from the base.
One drawback, however, is that, despite the head being technically able to roll back in its ball joint to face the sky, the weight of the head itself means it can't stay in any other position than facing forwards. From there you can tilt it from side to side and open the jaws, as MiniSuperHeroesToday demonstrates, but the versatility of the ball joint is limited somewhat by the weight of the chomping jaws.
All in all, however, the up-close finish of the set appears to be impressive, from the printed elements to the fun inclusion of some printed Super Mario coins. Check out the full review below ahead of 71426 Piranha Plant's release on November 6, priced at £57.99 / $59.99 / €64.99.
