During this year's holiday season, the LEGO Group gave 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure a suitably festive makeover.
If you’re looking for a fun LEGO building project to get stuck into over the annual lull between Christmas and new year, then here’s just the thing. During the festive break, the LEGO Group tweeted a short video of a customised 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure to celebrate the holiday season, with the set having undergone a full Santa makeover.
As you can see in the post below, the 654-piece model forms the basis of the Yuletide build, but a number of elements have been swapped out to achieve the Father Christmas look. 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure already has a red torso and arms, so additional white bricks have been used to simulate fur trimmings, along with a couple of black buttons complete the top of the model’s body.
Red legs replace the blue that come with 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure and an all-new Santa hat had been constructed from red and white pieces. A version of the secret internal head mechanism also remains in place, with a Reindeer Costume minifigure from 71034 Series 23 cheerily piloting the oversized model.
With a selection of similar pieces, it should be entirely possible for most builders to customise 40649 Up-Scaled LEGO Minifigure in the same manner, although a full set of official instructions from the LEGO Group certainly wouldn’t go amiss.
