There might be more LEGO Inside Out sets in our future

Inside Out 2 has proven to be a success for Disney and Pixar and we could see the LEGO Group's sets for the film go the way of Encanto.

As expected, Inside Out 2 has become the highest-grossing North American film of 2024 so far after only eight days since it was released, as reported by Variety. That beats Dune: Part Two's domestic box office of $282 million and the sequel looks to be a major success for Disney and Pixar. It's worth noting that Dune has a massive LEGO model with several minifigures in 10327 Dune Atreides Royal Ornithopter.

At the time of writing, there are only two LEGO sets based on the Inside Out franchise – 40749 Joy, Sadness & Anxiety and 43248 Inside Out 2 Mood Cubes with figures of Joy, Anxiety and a couple of mind workers as well as a brick-built Sadness between them.

Notably, this is similar to the LEGO Group's initial coverage of Encanto before that movie was deemed a success on streaming. In 2021, the LEGO Group decided to play it safe with Encanto, only committing to three sets upon release with a handful of the Madrigal family covered across them.

In the years since, Mirabel appeared in other sets but this year, the LEGO Group is going all-in on Encanto by nearly doubling the number of Encanto-specific sets.

Right now, you can pick up 40753 Mirabel Madrigal, 43237 Isabela's Flowerpot, 43239 Mirabel's Photo Frame and Jewelry Box, 43245 The Magical Madrigal House and 43251 Antonio's Animal Sanctuary. While there's plenty of the cast still to depict as figures, much more of the Madrigal family is represented than in 2021, demonstrating that the LEGO Group is more confident in the movie after it was proven to be a success.

While nothing is currently confirmed, Inside Out 2 appears to be a similarly major success for Disney and Pixar but it remains to be seen whether merchandise sales will be as or more successful, convincing the LEGO Group to explore the franchise further.

For now, you can pick up both 40749 Joy, Sadness & Anxiety and 43248 Inside Out 2 Mood Cubes online and in stores. The sequel has already earned the second-highest opening for an animated movie of all time behind Incredibles 2.
