One minifigure in LEGO Harry Potter The Burrow widens the brick-built world

LEGO Harry Potter 76437 The Burrow Collectors’ Edition includes the full Weasley clan – and opens up new possibilities for the theme.

76437 The Burrow Collectors’ Edition is the very first LEGO Harry Potter set to feature all nine Weasleys. That's nine family members, not eight like movie-only watchers might think. Charlie Weasley, the dragon-taming, second-eldest brother with tattoos, never made it into the movies. Indeed, the eldest son Bill only made an appearance in the last two movies.

While neither of the brothers ever attended Hogwarts at the same time as Harry, he spent some time with them during summers at the Burrow and more so in the latter books during Order of the Phoenix meetings and the like. It's rare for the LEGO Harry Potter theme to take its lead from the books, rather than the movies – but not unheard of.

This isn't even the first time that we've seen a LEGO-fied Charlie Weasley, seeing as he made at least a digital appearance in the video game, LEGO Harry Potter: Years Five to Seven. However, it's no secret that the LEGO Group tends to use the Warner Bros movies as inspiration as opposed to the books, typically.  LEGO Design Master Marcos Bessa addressed this back in 2021 while speaking to Tips & Bricks.

“We work primarily from the movies – that is our contract with WB, so it’s our reference material,” Marcos explained. “For example, sets like the Hogwarts common rooms aren’t likely as only the Gryffindor one is seen a lot in the movies.”

In the case of Charlie Weasley, it makes sense for this to be the set he makes his debut. 76437 The Burrow Collectors’ Edition wouldn't feel right as the ultimate version of the Weasley family's home without all their canon children. Looking beyond this set, however, it also leaves the door open for more future possibilities.

There are plenty of book-only characters that never made their way on the big screen. Could this inclusion of Charlie Weasley who previously only existed within the pages of the books leave room for more? Might we see a black-and-yellow striped Ludo Bagman in a future Quidditch set? Could Winky the house-elf feature alongside Dobby if we ever get a set of the Hogwarts kitchens? Is there a chance of finally seeing Peeves in LEGO form?

We wouldn't hold our breath for all of those to happen but it does feel like that's more likely to happen today than it did a few days ago.
