President Trump has imposed more US tariffs for products from countries with LEGO factories as Elon Musk adds the LEGO Group to a lawsuit.
After taking office last month, President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico, and China with a 25% duty on all imports from Mexico and most goods from Canada. This comes after an initial round of tariff proposals for Denmark, but these newer tariffs have been imposed via an executive order, unlike those proposed for Denmark. These tariffs include many countries with LEGO factories that ship stock to the US.
A $1 billion LEGO factory in the state of Virginia is due to start operations in 2027, but in the meantime, there's a chance that these tariffs could affect LEGO set prices for US consumers. Nothing has been currently confirmed by the LEGO Group though.

As well as these tariffs, the new Leader of the Department of Government Efficiency and CEO of Tesla / X Elon Musk has broadened an existing lawsuit to name several major brands, including the LEGO Group. The suit alleges that these companies are part of a major boycott of the social media platform, which has resulted in the loss of billions of dollars in advertising revenue.
The LEGO Group has not posted a promotional post on X since September 2024 but continues to respond to enthusiasts on the platform to assist with missing pieces and other complaints, as well as to generally interact with them.
