September is a month of hits and misses when it comes to LEGO releases, but which sets hold up to the hype – and which don't?
There aren't tons of new LEGO sets out this month, when you compare it to some heavyhitters like January and August, but there is a lot of variety. Many of the sets released this month have been revealed a long time ago, leaving plenty of time for hype to build – but can sets live up to such hype?
We've selected a few under- and over-hyped sets, highlighting which sets you won't be disappointed by, and which ones might need a healthy dose of reality.
LEGO Disney 43279 WALL-E and EVE
Price: £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 Pieces: 811

43279 WALL-E and EVE was revealed at the beginning of August during a busy period of reveals and new releases. For such an adorably detailed trio of brick-built robots, there's truly not enough hype for the LEGO Disney set, out now for £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99.
For fans of the movie or simply fans of well-designed robots, there's little to complain about in 43279 WALL-E and EVE. So what are you waiting for?
Our verdict: Underhyped.
LEGO Wicked 75689 Emerald City & Kiamo Ko Castle
Price: £74.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 Pieces: 860

75689 Emerald City & Kiamo Ko Castle got a lot of commotion for depicting both castles, but – considering the price particularly – the scale and level of detail isn't quite as convincing now that the dust has settled. While it's still a fun, colourful build, perhaps don't let the online hype around this set blind you to its downsides.
Our verdict: Overhyped.
LEGO City 60475 Advent Calendar 2025
Price: £19.99 / $34.99 / €26.99 Pieces: 186

The licensed advent calendars often get more commotion for their whimsical takes on familiar characters, but we reckon 60475 Advent Calendar 2025 is what it's all about this festive season. The minifigures, the surprisingly impressive builds for the scale, the pacing of the reveals throughout the month – it all comes together for a calendar that's easy to recommend.
Our verdict: Underhyped.
LEGO Nike 43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot
Price: £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99 Pieces: 454

43021 Nike Dunk Trickshot builds on the displayable-shoe theme started by 43008 Nike Dunk, but takes it one step further – and for a more affordable price. The action shot of the trickshot, paired with the vividly printed elements on the background and base, makes for a dynamic display build at a price that won't break the bank.
Our verdict: Underhyped.
LEGO Nike 43010 Nike Slam Dunk
Price: £59.99 / $69.99 / €69.99 Pieces: 809

The same can't be said for its fellow Nike release of the month, 43010 Nike Slam Dunk – which is anything but a slam dunk. The base lacks some of the polished effect of 43021, leaning more into mosaic territory, making you think of the ill-fated DOTS theme. The action figure is also somewhat out of propotion, dunking a featureless orange ball that only looks like a basketball in context.
Our verdict: Overhyped.
