Nine LEGO January 1 sets that pair perfectly with builds you already have

Nine LEGO January 1 sets that pair perfectly with builds you already have

Depending on what you already have on shelves, there are some newly-released LEGO sets that make for perfect companion pieces.

Building up an impressive LEGO collection is all about knowing what goes well with what. Grouping LEGO Star Wars ships together for an impressive fleet, steadily growing your brick-built Wizarding World, or combining LEGO Botanicals set for a vibrant display all help to make your individual LEGO sets pop next to one another.

We've picked out nine LEGO sets that just released on January 1 that pair perfectly with existing sets, so you can find the ideal purchase to continue growing your collection. Plus, remember that there are still GWPs to pick up when you shop on LEGO.com, including 30688 Tropical Toucan coming free with orders over £35 / $40 / €40 or more on DREAMZzz, City, Creator 3in1 and Friends and 40756 Lucky Knots coming with all orders over £135 / $150 / €150, excluding pre-orders.

9 – LEGO Star Wars 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship

The LEGO Group is continuing its midi-scale Star Wars ships collection with another addition, 75404 Acclamator-Class Assault Ship. The Clone Wars-era ship, like the others from the sub-theme, comes complete with its own stand. Plus, the red-and-grey colour scheme lends it well to be adapted into a midi-scale Venator. It's only a matter of time until rebuild instructions pop up on Rebrickable.

8 – LEGO Marvel 76314 Captain America: Civil War Action Battle

LEGO Marvel 76314 Captain America Civil War Action Battle Lifestyle 1024x684

The minifigure-heavy 76314 Captain America: Civil War Action Battle recreates another iconic MCU battle, pairing well with both a past and possibly future set from the theme. Similar existing sets that come together to make for a dynamic timeline of the MCU's most dramatic moments include 76291 The Avengers Assemble: Age of Ultron and 76261 Spider-Man Final Battle.

Down the line, it's said we'll also get 76323 Avengers: Endgame: Final Battle, so keeping track of these battle builds as they come out is the best way to gradually build up a complete set.

7 – LEGO Harry Potter 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops

LEGO Harry Potter 76444 Lifestyle 1024x684

While the LEGO Harry Potter team is also working on a minifigure-scale Hogwarts Castle split between different sets, if you prefer your display on a microfigure scale, 76444 Diagon Alley Wizarding Shops is the ideal companion to 76419 Hogwarts Castle and Grounds. Both are on a similar scale and focus on the two most commonly seen locations from the Wizarding World on screen.

6 / 5 – LEGO Harry Potter 76441 Hogwarts Castle: Dueling Club / 76442 Hogwarts Castle: Charms Class

If minifigures are more your style, however, there's still plenty of that to enjoy in LEGO Harry Potter. That includes two new class-themed builds, 76441 Hogwarts Castle: Dueling Club and 76442 Hogwarts Castle: Charms Class, that will help to flesh out some of the larger Hogwarts sets at a much lower price, with neither of those builds exceeding £20.

4 – LEGO Creator 3-in-1 31165 Panda Family

LEGO Creator 31165 Wild Animals Panda Family lifestyle 2 1024x768

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 is perhaps at its best when recreating brick-built versions of animals, as with previous builds like 31150 Wild Safari Animals, 31136 Exotic Parrot, and 31154 Forest Animals: Red Fox. Just released on January 1, 31165 Panda Family continues the trend and would help complete a display of LEGO animals, adding some black and white to the colourful mix with a choice of pandas, penguins, or orcas.

3 / 2 – LEGO Icons 10343 Mini Orchid / 10344 Lucky Bamboo

LEGO Botanicals 10343 Mini Orchid and 10344 Lucky Bamboo review 30 1024x683

The LEGO Botanical Four Gentlemen collection is now complete with the release of 10343 Mini Orchid and 10344 Lucky Bamboo, introducing four affordable builds based on plants from the four seasons of the year. Each one comes with its own brick-built pot that makes for easy and aesthetic display.

LEGO Animal Crossing 77055 Able Sisters Clothing Shop featured 1024x576

If you're working on a LEGO Animal Crossing island, don't miss out on the latest proper building in the theme, 77055 Able Sisters Clothing Shop. It introduces two new minifigures, as well as a spot for your characters to get a new change of clothes, just like in the video game.
