Nintendo Switch 2 explains the long-awaited arrival of LEGO Mario Kart

Nintendo has announced the Switch 2, with a new version of Mario Kart to accompany it, explaining why LEGO Mario Kart prayers have been answered.

January 1 saw LEGO Super Mario finally welcome Mario Kart to shelves, after years of fans wanting to see a crossover between the game and the bricks. While you should never look a gift set in the mouth, the reason behind why that particular wish has now been granted might have just been explained by Nintendo.

The gaming company has officially announced the Switch 2, the long-awaited successor to its console that comes complete with a fresh version of Mario Kart. Both the console and game will release sometime in 2025, which could explain why the LEGO Group chose this year to finally team up with Mario Kart.

With more anonymous rumoured LEGO Super Mario sets on the way, we could expect to see even more Mario Kart products later this year, perhaps to time alongside the release of the game. What's more, the LEGO Group recently teased a brick-built Game Boy is on its way. Now that Nintendo has another console on the way, could we perhaps see a brick-built version of the Switch 2 at some point? Never say never...
