One week left for Blocks magazine's LEGO Batman contest

There is just one week left to get your entry into the Blocks Bat Build contest, which gives builders the chance to win The LEGO Batman Movie prizes including sets and signed magazines. The monthly LEGO magazine is asking fans to take an existing LEGO set, and give it a Batman twist. The first prize winner will get 70909 Batcave Break-in and a copy of Blocks magazine signed by director Chris McKay and producer Dan Lin, with two runner-up prizes of smaller sets and signed mags. The Blocks build team has been sharing tips on social media to help inspire entrants:

Jme Wheeler suggests, 'really try to get into Batman's head. The Lego version is very specific (and perhaps my favorite). Try and look at the build from his perspective, and not just what you'd like to build.'

Alec Hole advises, 'there are a lot of different versions of Batman and his vehicles from comics, movies over the years. This is useful for getting inspiration for adapting a set. I always liked the Batmobile from the 1989 Tim Burton film so I tried to emulate the curved design and jet intake when building the Bat-Dozer.'

Daniel Konstanski says, 'use caution with Batman builds. The line, 'I only work in black – and sometimes very very dark grey' is funny, but in practicality quite the building challenge. A set with a limited colour palette can lead to a very monotone build that is visually flat. Try to mix textures up or introduce interesting angles to avoid monotony and aesthetically interesting.'
