More and more LEGO sets have been receiving set-specific gifts-with-purchase in 2024, which begs the question: what would a LEGO GWP for a $1,000 set look like?
From 40693 The Lord of the Rings: Fell Beast to
It stands to reason then that 2025’s rumoured LEGO Star Wars flagship set 75419 Death Star will also be accompanied by a gift-with-purchase. But given that model is said to retail for an eye-watering $999.99, it’s anyone’s guess what the LEGO Group could be cooking up to incentivise a day-one purchase of what would be the most expensive LEGO set of all time.
Reaching the four-figure barrier (okay, it’s a penny away, but now we’re just talking semantics) is a milestone moment that deserves a milestone GWP. Here are a few paths the LEGO Star Wars team could take for this one…
6 – Another buildable lightsaber

The LEGO Group’s go-to for set-specific Star Wars freebies in recent years has been a buildable lightsaber, starting with Anakin/Luke/Rey’s storied Skywalker hilt and culminating in Luke’s Return of the Jedi weapon in 2024. Notably missing from the list so far is Darth Vader’s lightsaber, which we can easily see launching alongside 75419 Death Star in 2025. It wouldn’t exactly be the most exciting prospect for a $1,000 set, though.
5 – A minifigure diorama

This is a pretty broad suggestion, because it could encompass almost anything relevant to the Death Star from the original trilogy. But then most of those scenes would presumably make it into the actual set (if it does incorporate elements of a playset like 10188 Death Star), so suddenly you’re narrowing it down to what we’ll call adjacent options.
Think Princess Leia handing off the Death Star plans to R2-D2 aboard Tantive IV; the rebels blowing up the Death Star II’s shield generator on the Forest Moon of Endor; or the briefing room aboard Home One. Each and every one of those has the chance to deliver an exclusive minifigure (even if it’s only a more detailed variant of an existing character), which would be good news for those willing to fork over $1,000 on day one and bad news for everyone else.
4 – Another (smaller) Death Star

The LEGO Group already cannibalised this idea with 40591 Death Star II in 2023, but maybe we could get an equivalent microscale version of the first Death Star to go alongside 75419 Death Star. ‘The same build but less interesting’ probably isn’t top of anyone’s list, though – and especially not as a GWP for a $1,000 set.
3 – Buildable Death Star plans

The plans for the Death Star are the driving force of two different Star Wars movies (Rogue One and A New Hope), so finding some way to serve them up as a gift-with-purchase could be pretty cool. There are a couple of different ways the LEGO Group could go about it, too: for one, there’s the hologram Count Dooku carries around in Attack of the Clones, which would require a bunch of trans-red pieces and a smart design.
Alternatively, the LEGO Star Wars team could lean into Jan Dodonna’s briefing of the rebel crew with some kind of mosaic-style build of the two-dimensional screen. As long as it’s not just a buildable datacard…
2 – A box of loose bricks

Can you tell where we’re going with this one? Just think about what the original Death Star is best known for. 40800 Remains of Alderaan has a catchy ring to it, doesn’t it?
1 – 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer

Look, we’re already paying $1,000 for a single set. Just do us a solid and throw in 75356 Executor Super Star Destroyer as a companion piece. Or failing that, a smaller version of the same ship – perhaps bundled in with a smaller version of 75405 Home One Starcruiser – would do the trick. Half-midi-scale, we’ll call it.
What would you like to see from a gift-with-purchase for 75419 Death Star? Let us know in the comments. Remember that word of a $1,000 LEGO Star Wars set is still just a rumour for now, though…
