LEGO Star Wars 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship is leaving shelves at the end of 2025, so let’s take one last look at this unusual Clone Wars set before it’s gone for good.
When it initially debuted in September 2023, 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship was the first minifigure-scale Republic Gunship to come out of the LEGO Star Wars theme in a decade. But rather than churn out yet another LAAT/i in its tried-and-tested white livery with hints of dark red and lime, the designers chose instead to throw caution to the wind with a radical dark red colour scheme.

That proved polarising among fans who had been patiently waiting for another regular Republic Gunship, to the point that it didn’t take long for the LEGO Star Wars community to recolour 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship in more familiar hues. But it wasn’t just the colour scheme that proved contentious: so too did the Gunship’s single doors, diminutive size and wasted interior space.
These are all legitimate concerns with 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship even two years later, but picking it up and toying around with it again now it’s about to leave shelves, we’d still recommend giving this set a second chance if you haven’t already added it to your collection. Its flaws are eminently fixable – there are plenty of guides out there to show you how – and it still has a lot going for it.

For one thing, while another minifigure-scale LEGO Republic Gunship feels as inevitable as the sun rising and setting, or Disney one day cranking out Star Wars Episodes X to XII (you know it’s going to happen), we’d put money on never getting one in this colour scheme or form factor again. It’s such an unusual concept that it’s hard to imagine the designers ever revisiting it.
But for those of us who have been collecting LEGO Star Wars sets for 15 years or more, this is exactly the kind of set we should be relishing: something a little off the beaten path that stands out in a wider collection. The dark red colour scheme is bold, different and refreshing. And if you have been collecting that long, you might just appreciate its more compact size for the sake of your shelf space.
Consider the minifigure line-up, too: how often do we see Padmé Amidala or Chancellor Palpatine come along? Rarely enough that these are two not to miss, while this is a first for Commander Fox in his Phase II armour, and the LEGO Group has even fixed initial issues with his torso printing (which makes now an even better time to take the plunge).
The final sticking point for most is probably the price, and that’s entirely fair. At £129.99 / $139.99 / €149.99 for only 1,083 pieces, it feels like a precursor to the shrinking piece counts and spiralling prices that have defined recent LEGO Star Wars sets such as 75413 Republic Juggernaut and 75435 Battle of Felucia Separatist MTT. It doesn’t help either that 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship is available only at limited third-party retailers in the UK, so rarely sees discounts.
The good news on that front is that it’s rumoured to be part of this year’s LEGO Insiders Weekend deals, with a 30% discount on the table – which would bring it down to only £91 in the UK, $98 in the US or €105 in Europe. Add on an extra 10% cashback in the form of double Insiders points and at least one free gift (or more if you order other sets besides), and you’re talking a much more agreeable price for everything in the box.
And even if you’re not quite so hot on the colour scheme, it’s a neat gateway to a whole world of rainbow Republic Gunships, so you can take the bones of it and really make it your own. If you’d outright dismissed this one back in 2023, we’d very much recommend taking another look over LEGO Insiders Weekend.
75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship is rumoured to be 30% off during LEGO Insiders Weekend 2025. Find out everything happening over this members-only event by heading here.
