Rumoured LEGO set for 2024 has an intriguing set number

A rumoured LEGO set with scant details includes an intriguing set number that could hint at a brand-new theme.

Thanks to an early listing from a German retailer known as Rappelkiste, we've got our first details about a LEGO set believed to be on its way in the summer of 2024. Known as 41838 Family Travel Memories (a translated name that may be subject to change), the set is described as having 1,321 pieces and with a price tag of €149.99. Although the retailer claims it will be shipped 'shortly', that could mean anytime this year.

Without a whole lot to go on, the set number of 41838 isn't close to any other existing LEGO themes. The closest we could spot is 41811 Hogwarts Desktop Kit, from the now-retired LEGO DOTS theme. Unless LEGO DOTs is making a dramatic comeback (very unlikely), this could be a sign that a new theme is on the way.

The name 41838 Family Travel Memories offers a number of possibilities for what the set could actually depict. Could it be following in the footsteps of 21346 Family Tree, a set that can be customised to the builder's own family? Possible, but it seems unlikely that the LEGO Group would release two such similar sets in such a short timespan.

Another option is depicting a minifigure family making some travel memories of their own, perhaps in the form of a plane, cruise ship, car, or another mode of transport that they could travel around in.

Of course, this is all speculation for now. Indeed, we won't know for sure whether this set is actually on the way until we get an official reveal from the LEGO Group. For now, take all of the rumoured details and our musings with a pinch of salt.
