Rumoured LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum has promising modular potential

Word of a new LEGO Batman Arkham Asylum set for next years offers the chance for DC to join a promising collection currently hosted by Marvel.

One of the most recent LEGO rumours for 2025 to surface from a.clay.brick is that of a $400 Arkham Asylum model, which would offer the first model of the asylum since 2017's 70912 Arkham Asylum and the much smaller 76138 Batman and The Joker Escape from 2019. There's also an even smaller depiction of the asylum in 76271 Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City.

These are most but not all of the sets featuring Arkham Asylum from LEGO Batman since 2006 and while its potential return in 2025 is just a rumour, a $400 price tag has exciting potential. It might finally be time for the collection of superhero modular buildings to stretch beyond Marvel.

Marvel's long-running collection of modular-compatible buildings includes four entries for Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, the Avengers and the X-Men as of November 2024. They make up a line of superhero modular buildings separate from the main collection but can be displayed alongside them.

Recent massive LEGO DC sets have instead focused on vehicles and the Batcave but Arkham Asylum would fit neatly into this collection as a modular adaptation of the building.

Instagram user yellowbox777 and Dream Build Bricks have already envisioned what a modular version of Arkham Asylum with a full interior could look like, though both are considerably larger than any official set would likely be. For the rumoured 2025 set, Arkham Asylum could be scaled down similar to 76294 X-Men: The X-Mansion to keep the most important rooms and additional builds such as the Marvel model's Sentinel.

Spreading Arkham Asylum across the same footprint as the X-Mansion but with an additional floor (and more depth) would be a decent adaptation of the iconic location that would look just as unique on any modular street. Theoretically, it would work within the rumoured price range and still have exciting minifigure potential.

Alternatively, the LEGO Group may opt to play it safe and depict Arkham Asylum as it has been previously – a standalone building playset. A combination of the two is also possible though as seen in 75827 Firehouse Headquarters, which is in the same vein as the modular collection but is not compatible with the other sets without modification.

As always, this is only speculation based on the rumours of a new Arkham Asylum set and such a model may not be in our future after all. Take all ELGO Rumours with caution for now just in case and here's what else is reported for next year for LEGO DC.
