Second LEGO Ideas Shrek project makes its way into the first 2023 review round

In what seems like a bizarre coincidence, a second Shrek project has now made its way into the first LEGO Ideas review round for 2023.

Just a few days ago, YouTuber Ashnflash’s Shrek creation successfully managed to achieve 10,000 supporters. Originally submitted on January 19, 2023, the design features the Dreamworks’ animated character in a build entitled Shrek’s Swamp – 20th Anniversary. The model became the 12th such project to successfully be added to the latest LEGO Ideas review round, but it's no longer the only one to feature the green ogre.

In what appears to be a staggering coincidence (or just incredibly fortunate timing), a second Shrek-based creation has also just hit the 10K mark. The brainchild of danielbradleyy, Shrek’s Swamp offers a detailed recreation of the character’s rundown hovel, complete with detailed and suitably grimy interiors. In addition, the build also includes minifigures of Shrek, Fiona, Puss in Boots, The Gingerbread Man and Lord Farquaad, as well as Eddie Murphy's Donkey.

The two Shrek designs will now battle it out for supremacy, with a LEGO Ideas review board considering the builds in May 2023, alongside the existing submissions. Only time will tell if either of the models will eventually become a physical LEGO Ideas set at some point in the future.
