Six brilliant buildings in LEGO BrickLink Series 7

Six brilliant buildings in LEGO BrickLink Series 7

Alongside LEGO Castle, the community has a desire for buildings in the BrickLink Designer Program and Series 7 is home to many more examples.

Despite new rules prohibiting unofficial LEGO modular buildings from being submitted for the current future series, the BrickLink Designer Program Series 7 still has quite a few models that wouldn't be difficult to adapt to a modular layout, similar to the upcoming Art Factory model.

There are also plenty of impressive buildings that do not align with the modular buildings but are undoubtedly impressive on their own. Overall, building fans are well-served in the proposed selection for Series 7 and we will have to see which five builds are selected for crowdfunding.

With less than a week left to have your say on the 375 submissions in Series 7, here are some of the best buildings we've spotted and you can click here to view the rest of the series.

Lavender Nursery

Designer: Feacebricks Pieces: 3,030 Stickers: 3 BrickLink: Vote now

Feacebricks' Lavender Nursery is a wonderfully coastal creation with a colourful array of buildings surrounded by water. It's a suitable standalone scene for any collection but modular cities with a coastline might also be able to incorporate it with ease through an additional concrete walkway.

Even without any city connections though, this 3,000-piece creation is vibrant and whimsical while painting a realistic tone and setting, bringing a welcome splash of colour to an otherwise grey location.

Queen Anne Victorian

Designer: NewEletia45 Pieces: 3,989 Stickers: 28 BrickLink: Vote now

NewEletia45's Queen Anne Victorian focuses mostly on the exterior with exquisite and luxurious detailing similar to another model on this list. Inside, the building is designed to be customised with a variety of furnishings, harkening back to classic doll houses but with a distinct LEGO touch.

This cleverly simplistic feature means that the build is open at the back, but the scale of the building wouldn't look great alongside the LEGO modular buildings anyway. Despite this, it remains one of the visually-stunning buildings in Series 7.

The Villa of Hope

Designer: Hostasbuilds Pieces: 3,072 Stickers: 1 BrickLink: Vote now

Hostasbuilds Villa of Hope might remind you of 21330 Home Alone with its design and similar to the LEGO Ideas set, it wouldn't be hard to adapt the beautiful building to fit into a street scene.

Even without this though, the 3,072-piece creation is fully-furnished across three floors to offer a familiar LEGO experience with a fresh coat of paint inspired by 19th-century architecture.

The Grand Victorian Hotel

Designer: GNbrick1331 Pieces: 3,904 Stickers: 4 BrickLink: Vote now

Whether you recognise the design of this building from the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego or the Grand Floridian in Walt Disney World, GNbrick1331's first of two submissions on this list is brimming with luxurious details, including a pool.

Its fan-lead design is already impressive on its own and it would be great to see how the model might expand and evolve as a finalist in its transition to an official set. It first has to get picked as a finalist though.

Sushi Restaurant

Designer: Brickproject Pieces: 3,409 Stickers: 25 BrickLink: Vote now

Brickproject's configurable Sushi Restaurant sits in a similar position to the upcoming Art Factory set in that it would not be hard to adapt the finished building to a modular street. Even eschewing this potential though, the 3,409-piece model is a joy to admire.

The model is made up of many sections that can be remixed to form different scenes, including a train running next to the traditional but busy building. It reminds us of 910032 Parisian Street but with a Japan-focused twist.

The Gothic Movie Theater

Designer: GNbrick1331 Pieces: 4,000 Stickers: 11 BrickLink: Vote now

After the original LEGO cinema modular building, GNbrick1331 pitches a Gothic movie theatre using exactly 4,000 pieces and with a more impressive movie screen inside. While its design is distinctly not modular, a big enough baseplate and some grey tiles would go a long way in making it fit into a modular display.

The Gothic architecture continues inside as much as it does on the outside with seating, a box office and more to explore.
