Comic book writer and designer Dayn Broder designed Sun-Spider as a Spidersona during the 2018 trend that ran on various social media platforms, and she stood out for using crutches, proving that anyone can wear the mask.
The outpouring of love for Sun-Spider eventually saw Marvel adapt her and more fan-submitted Spidersona characters officially with the help of their fan creators. This was originally done as part of the first issue 2019 Spider-Verse comic, but Sun-Spider's story doesn't stop there.
Sun-Spider would go on to be the star of a short story in Edge of Spider-Verse issue 4 in 2022, written by Tee Franklin, focusing on what makes Sun-Spider's story unique and the challenges she faces with her disability, as well as how she overcomes and is empowered by them. Tee and I discussed my thoughts and vision of what Charlotte’s personality and world might look like, and she took that and ran with it, creating a fleshed-out character and world. Charlotte is a high schooler and an ambulatory wheelchair user. She also has EDS, and she has a desperate crush on her best friend Aster.”
Now, Sun-Spider's small but significant role in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has inspired the LEGO Group to include this fan-designed character in

It's common for LEGO Ideas sets to feature the fan designers as minifigures, but those are only in original builds so far. Appearances of real fans or fan-designed characters as minifigures in licensed LEGO sets are unheard of to our knowledge. Sun-Spider in
