Five obscure Star Wars Imperials that could fill out a $1,000 LEGO Death Star

Five obscure Star Wars Imperials that could fill out a $1,000 LEGO Death Star

A $1,000 LEGO Death Star is the kind of set that absolutely has to pull out all the stops – including packing in new and obscure minifigures. Here are five Imperials that could fit the bill…

If the prospect of a $1k LEGO Star Wars set has you salivating, then you are exactly the target audience for the rumoured 75419 Death Star. Said to come in at $999.99 in October 2025, this record-breaking battle station would dominate any LEGO collection – and has the potential to serve up the most minifigures in a single LEGO set (let alone LEGO Star Wars set) ever.

It can do that by ticking off all the characters you’d expect – Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, the Emperor and so on; essentially everyone from 10188 Death Star – then tossing in a few extra Stormtroopers, Death Star Troopers, Imperial Navy Troopers, droids and Imperial Officers. Those needn’t all be anonymous, though: this is a prime opportunity to deliver obscure named Imperials from A New Hope.

LEGO Star Wars 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer review 28 1024x402

We’ve seen the LEGO Group do similar with sets like 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina and 75397 Jabba’s Sail Barge, pulling from the depths of obscurity for specific characters rather than nameless background goons (contrasted with the line-up from 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer above, which includes only one named character alongside Darth Vader).

With that in mind, here are five of the Death Star’s biggest personalities we’ll hopefully see filling out the ranks in 75419 Death Star (if the set arrives as rumoured, and if it incorporates minifigures at all). Bonus: just imagine how much work Commander Praji's minifigure actor could get covering some of these roles...

5 – Shann Childsen

Star Wars Shann Childsen 1024x614

Remember this guy? ‘Course you do. Probably not by name – you’d need a degree in Wookieepedia literacy for that – but at least by the minor role he played in A New Hope. Lieutenant Shann Childsen was the guy overseeing detention block AA-23, where Princess Leia was being held captive and where Han and Luke turned up with Chewbacca for an improvised rescue. A LEGO detention block just wouldn’t be the same without him.

4 – Edmos Khurgee

Star Wars Edmos Khurgee

Another bit-player in the Death Star’s operations who inadvertently got mixed up in the story of those who would eventually destroy it, Captain Edmos Khurgee led the Millennium Falcon’s inspection team – so it was under his purview that two of his soldiers were knocked out and stripped of their armour. Hard to imagine he’ll have received a promotion in the days before the space station exploded.

3 – Pol Treidum

Star Wars Pol Treidum 1024x619

Best remembered for asking why TK-421 wasn’t at his post, Lieutenant Pol Treidum was stationed above Docking Bay 327, where the Millennium Falcon boarded the Death Star after getting caught in a tractor beam. He later collided with Chewbacca’s fist. Treidum would make for a particularly strong Imperial crew minifigure for those sideburns alone.

2 – Cassio Tagge

Star Wars Tagge 1024x575

If 75419 Death Star does take its cues from 10188 Death Star by including a bunch of rooms inside the $1,000 battle station, one of those will surely be the conference room where high-ranking Imperials debated the Rebel Alliance stealing the Death Star plans. Two key characters from that scene have never been recreated in LEGO, including General Cassio Tagge, who would be top of the list for a new LEGO Death Star.

1 – Conan Antonio Motti

Admiral Motti Force choke 1024x435

Joining Tagge at the summit would naturally be Admiral Motti, who you may remember was the first person Darth Vader ever Force-choked on screen (going by release dates of the movies, that is). The Admiral of the Imperial Navy would be a fine candidate for an obscure Imperial Officer minifigure regardless of his actual role in the movies, but the ability to recreate that sequence makes him a must-have minifigure for 75419 Death Star.

That’s once again assuming this rumoured UCS set a) exists and b) includes minifigures, but for the price you’d very much hope it would. Check out more stories on 75419 Death Star below, or scroll down further for the complete LEGO Star Wars 2025 slate as things stand.
