The biggest LEGO City sets ever made – May 2025 

The latest huge build nearly tops the list of City's biggest models, but 60473 The City Tower isn't quite the biggest LEGO City set ever made.

60473 The City Tower has just been revealed with nearly 2,000 elements in a model that mixes several different subthemes into one unique building. LEGO City is no stranger to huge sets, but ones as big as this aren't too common.

Following our 2023 report, here's an updated list of the biggest LEGO City sets ever designed, some of which are coming this summer.

7 – 60162 Jungle Air Drop Helicopter 

Price: £109.99 / $149.99 / €129.99 Pieces: 1,250 Year: 2017 

LEGO City’s jungle range boasts one of the biggest builds in the theme, thanks to the diverse array of vehicles and landscape models in 60162 Jungle Air Drop Helicopter. With recent releases, this set now sits at the bottom of the list.

6 – 60125 Volcano Heavy-Lift Helicopter 

Price: £109.99 / $149.99 / €129.99 Pieces: 1,277 Year: 2016 

The short-lived volcano subtheme also has a massive model, with 2016's 60125 Volcano Heavy-Lift Helicopter. The model comes with a small base, a huge helicopter, two ground-based vehicles, seven minifigures and a giant volcano.

5 – 60434 Space Base and Rocket Launchpad

Price: £169.99 / $199.99 / €179.99 Pieces: 1,422 Year: 2024 

Moving to space, 2024's 60434 Space Base and Rocket Launchpad is up next with 1,422 pieces for £124.99 / $134.99 / €139.99. The giant tower is the centrepiece of the set, but the package also boasts aliens, a rocket and some otherworldly terrain.

4 (tied) – 60470 Explorer Train

Price: £179.99 / $209.99 / €199.99 Pieces: 1,517 Year: 2025

The upcoming 60470 Explorer Train is now the biggest LEGO City train set of all time, featuring a zipline, mountain base and a collapsing tunnel, as well as all-new track elements.

4 (tied) – 60271 Main Square 

Price: £169.99 / $199.99 / €179.99 Pieces: 1,517 Year: 2021 

The LEGO City Adventures-inspired 60271 Main Square has 1,517 pieces and a town hall for LEGO City with some grandiose architecture, as well as a stylish diner and a park. Despite the many unique features, it's far from the biggest LEGO City set.

3 – 60097 City Square 

Price: £149.99 / $189.99 / €169.99 Pieces: 1,683 Year: 2015 

As one of the few LEGO City sets to feature a full LEGO store, 60097 City Square was at one point the largest LEGO City set by piece count, providing public transportation, a garage, a new helicopter and more to the citizens of LEGO City.

2 – 60473 The City Tower

Price: £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99 Pieces: 1,941 Year: 2025

The newly-revealed LEGO City 60473 The City Tower is easily the most diverse set in the theme, even though it's not quite the biggest. With 1,941 pieces for £179.99 / $199.99 / €199.99, the likes of space, trains, construction and Stuntz are all represented in the tower build.

1 – 60380 Downtown

Price: €209.99 Pieces: 2,010 Year: 2023 

60380 Downtown is just barely the biggest LEGO City of all time, and while it has now been retired, the 2023 model has certainly left its mark on the theme. It depicts a giant city scene that makes great use of the newer road plates with a comic shop, a barber, a hotel and a recording studio, all with a waterfront view.
