More than a decade after the last official LEGO Star Wars Jabba's Palace set, here's a custom build that blows previous versions out of the water.
While the LEGO Group itself has never released a full Jabba's Palace set, complete with a rancor pit below, some fans have modded 2012's 9516 Jabba's Palace and 2013's 75005 Rancor Pit to create a sprawling combination build. However, with both of those sets long retired, that's not an easy option unless you can find them on the secondhand market – and they won't come cheap, with each one selling for more than double the original RRPs on average.
The most recent official take on the iconic location from the LEGO Group is 75326 Boba Fett's Throne Room, which retired at the end of 2023. That recreated the central room as it was when Boba Fett took over – although its most iconic moments certainly came about when under Jabba's rule.
If you're after the ultimate brick-built recreation of Jabba's Palace and don't fancy trawling through secondhand markets, thankfully there's now an easier answer. Rebrickable user codyaner.bricks' Throne Room & Rancor Pit recreates an impressively detailed version of the throne room and rancor pit, using only pieces from LEGO Architecture 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris.
The build features the throne room itself, along with a space to attack a carbonised Han Solo at the end. Below a working trapdoor is the rancor pit, made rom a combination of grey and tan elements. There's a buildable throne for Jabba, ready to dominate the scnee, as well as a gate mechanism that pulls up to release the beast – and then drops to crush it.
Of course, it's worth noting that the minifigures, Jabba, and the rancor aren't included in 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris (it's not quite in line with the authentic Parisian experience), so you'll need to source them separately to display if you don't have them already. Luckily, Jabba and the rancor are both available on eBay for less than £15 a pop, much less than buying 9516 Jabba's Palace and 75005 Rancor Pit in full.
You can buy the instructions for the alternate build on Rebrickable for €9.90, while LEGO Architecture 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris is available £199.99 / $229.99 / €229.99 on LEGO.com and in physical stores, or for as little as £149.99 at Amazon, a reduction of 25%.
