With a first look at three new LEGO Sonic minifigures, one in particular could reveal the way forward to another possible appearance.
Although Super Sonic, the Blue Blur's not-so-blue ultimate form that's achieved by harnessing the positive power of the seven Chaos Emeralds, does have a LEGO-fied design thanks to LEGO Dimensions, he's not yet appeared in either the LEGO DLC for Sonic Superstars or as a physical minifigure. However, with the official reveal of a Shadow minifigure, we think we've spotted a LEGO element that could work perfectly for Sonic's most powerful form.
Unlike Sonic, whose spikes are slicked back and down his neck, Shadow's spikes stand out from his head in an upturned crown. This reflects the shape of Super Sonic's own spikes, turned upwards apparently through the sheer force of the power coursing through him.
Of course, Super Sonic also glows yellow over most of his body (apart from his signature red sneakers that never change, of course), so the headpiece would require a recolour. However, if the LEGO Group ever does decide to translate Super Sonic into a minifigure, it'll be handy to have this moulded element already around.
With the introduction of not just Shadow, but also Knuckles and Rouge the Bat, likely coming in 2024, it does seem that LEGO Sonic minifigures will go from strength to strength. Rouge is a fairly unusual choice, not being that well-known to casual Sonic fans and therefore marking a departure from the more predictable choices of Sonic, Tails, Amy, Knuckles, and Shadow. Perhaps this is an indicator that Super Sonic isn't too wild of a hope, if LEGO Sonic continues to add more and more characters to its roster.
