It's been over 20 years since the last LEGO version of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man's epic train battle – so here's what it needs to hit.
According to the latest rumours reported by Instagram user a.clay.brick (via Brick Tap sources Boo-urns and Bartman), we can expect to return to the iconic train battle from Spider-Man 2 for the first time since 2004's 4855 Spider-Man's Train Rescue. Spider-Man is at his best when he connects with the people of New York and this scene is not only epic in terms of action but also sees a heart-warming moment where the people he saved band together to protect Peter Parker's identity.
It's both a heroic and emotional scene and it deserves to be done justice in LEGO form, if 2025's 76321 Spider-Man 2 Train Battle is indeed on the way. The original LEGO Spider-Man set from 2004 has a lot to love – but we're also excited to see how it could improve in a 2025 remake.
Doc Ock and his upgraded smart arms
First up, it goes without saying that the minifigures should knock it out of the park but chief among them should be Doc Ock. We've had various versions of the Spider-Man villain over the years but an updated look with Doc Ock's long jacket and a version of the arms like those pictured above where they're fully posable is an absolute must.
If we were choosing, we'd go for the 76178 Daily Bugle Doc Ock variant, pictured on the right, with the incredible versatile arms and interlocking pieces that look the most like the on-screen mechanical smart arms.
Far more web variety

21 years on, we have plenty more web varieties than simply white string now. We have coned webs, wide webs, webs that can hook onto things easily – the list goes on. Including multiple types of web in a set is a must for a set like 76321 Spider-Man 2 Train Battle where the action centres around web-slinging. Specifically, Peter uses webs to fight Doc Ock, stay on the train, and – most importantly – stop the train.
The rumoured price tag of $49.99 seems to suggest the LEGO Marvel set will straddle play and display, so having the option to have Spidey fight Doc Ock on the roof of the train, be swinging alongside it, or be on the front stopping it would take this set from good to great.
A cleaner take on the mechanics

Speaking of which, 2004's 4855 Spider-Man's Train Rescue featured a play action where you could thrust the train forward to blast through the webs Peter tries to use to stop the train. It adds to the drama of the moment and it would be great to see the same function appear again but incorporated more cleanly, without exposed Technic elements.
After two decades of progression in LEGO building techniques, this has become more of the norm, especially in cinematic builds. For example, the car launch feature in LEGO City 60444 F1 Garage & Mercedes-AMG & Alpine Cars is contained within smooth plates in the wall, meaning you don't see any clunky mechanics and it doesn't take you out of the aesthetics of the set.
Of course, we're just speculating for now and we won't know for sure if 76321 Spider-Man 2 Train Battle is indeed on the way until we get an official reveal from the LEGO Group.
