We want a complete LEGO Star Wars Podracer collection in 2024

With the 25th anniversary of The Phantom Menace arriving in 2024, we’re hoping to finally complete our LEGO Star Wars Podracer collection.

Next year marks a major event in Star Wars fans’ calendars, with Episode I due to celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2024. As well as The Phantom Menace marking that important milestone, it’ll also have been a quarter of a century since the first licensed LEGO Star Wars sets were launched, coinciding with the prequel film’s cinematic debut.

Recent rumours suggest that multiple LEGO Star Wars models may be arriving within the first half of next year, although there’s been no official confirmation regarding the existence of any of those builds so far. Initial reports seem to hint at a couple of potential prequel-era sets dropping in 2024 in the shape of 75380 Boonta Eve Podrace Diorama and 75381 Droideka, but more such Episode I models would certainly be welcomed.

While the former may end up being similar in scale to 75329 Death Star Trench Run Diorama, we’re still keeping our lightsabers crossed for some minifigure-compatible versions of the iconic twin-engine vehicles arriving next year.

LEGO Star Wars 75258 Anakins Podracer – 20th Anniversary Edition

Back in 2019, the LEGO Group released 75258 Anakin’s Podracer – 20th Anniversary Edition, which was itself an updated version of the original 7131 Podracer. In addition, 7171 Mos Espa Podrace dropped in 1999, which included Anakin’s, Gasgano’s and Sebulba’s pods, but that was all we ever received.

However, a whole menagerie of Podracing pilots appeared on-screen during the memorable sequence in The Phantom Menace, which could give the LEGO Group the opportunity to create more brick-built versions of the various distinctive craft. In total, 19 Podracers took part in the Boonta Eve Classic, including the likes of Ody Mandrell, Ben Quadinaros, Ratts Tyerell, Dud Bolt, Clegg Holdfast and more.

A number of impressive and detailed brick-built Podracers can been in both the LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga video games, suggesting that models of more Boonta Eve Classic vehicles are at least theoretically possible.

Whether we’ll actually get to see more minifigure-scale LEGO Star Wars Podracer sets in 2024 isn’t yet known at this stage, but there’s certainly enough potential for multiple builds based on the fast-paced craft that could be created.
