The LEGO Group is slowly but surely building up its smallest unofficial collection: LEGO sets based on shipwrecked boats. Here's our ranking.
The reveal of 10335 The Endurance brings LEGO sets based on shipwrecks up to two, together with 10294 Titanic. While the two ships are not to the same scale, they do share a certain aesthetic that makes it fair to draw comparisons between the two.
Indeed, Brick Fanatics' Matthew has ranked all two of those shipwrecked LEGO sets and 10335 The Endurance comes out on top, at least in his book. For long-term LEGO fans, it benefits from sails that evoke nostalgic feelings of LEGO Pirates, and for history fans, the zoomed-in scale of the upcoming LEGO Icons set means more detail is achieved.
After all, the real-life Endurance is smaller than the Titanic, so a bigger scale is possible. You can see inside to the cabin interiors and lift away sections to access the ship itself. It's far from a playset but it's easier to engage with even after building and more practical to display, not being the mammoth size of 10294 Titanic.
One other element that helps 10335 The Endurance to stand out from its spiritual predecessor is the heart that goes behind it. The actual Endurance has a far more inspiring and uplifting story, a story that Matthew has also dug into in his most recent video on the Brick Fanatics YouTube channel.
Join him over there to hear more about the comparisons between the two LEGO Icons ships, as well as a deep dive into the history of the real-life Endurance when it sailed the seas decades ago.
