What's next for LEGO Ideas in 2025?

As we near the release of what is likely to be the last two LEGO Ideas sets of 2024, the future of the theme looks to be equally bright.

With the arrival of LEGO Ideas 40698 Books Are My Passion tomorrow and 21353 The Botanical Garden on November 1 for LEGO Insiders or November 4 widely, LEGO Ideas looks to be done for 2024. Rumour has it the LEGO Ideas 2025 selection will start with 21354, leaving only room for another gift-with-purchase from LEGO Ideas in the last two months of 2024, if anything.

With Black Friday, the LEGO Insiders Weekend and Christmas coming, the chance of another LEGO Ideas gift-with-purchase this year seems unlikely. Considering this, it's time to look towards the future of the theme since we know what's coming next – eventually – while we wait for the last two 2024 releases from the theme over the next week.

The 2024 selection

Provided that the LEGO Group doesn't have any last-minute surprises planned (with no further rumours for LEGO Ideas in 2024 either), LEGO Ideas looks to be done in 2024 with 10 sets overall. From the debut of LEGO Dungeons & Dragons before the Collectible Minifigures series to the theme's first modular set – technically – it's been a busy year for enthusiasts.

Of the 10 released or upcoming sets, nine have been standard models of varying sizes and one has been a gift-with-purchase in the form of 40698 Books Are My Passion. That number of gifts-with-purchase tends to be consistent each year in LEGO Ideas, occasionally expanding to two in one year. 10 LEGO Ideas sets in one year is still the most we've ever had from the theme though.

LEGO Ideas 2025 rumours

In 2025, 11 standard sets are rumoured, which is nearly as many LEGO Ideas projects are currently confirmed for sets at the time of writing. That selection includes two upcoming LEGO Insiders Rewards and a gift-with-purchase, the latter of which is likely to have a non-standard set number for the theme. We've not had a LEGO Insiders reward for LEGO Ideas just yet, so there's no telling whether or not those projects will be assigned standard set numbers or something different.

Either way, all rumours should be taken with caution until an official announcement is made. Should the rumoured list of LEGO Ideas sets for 2025 turn out to be accurate, the team will clear through the list of projects currently in development not including The Autumn Snails GWP. We only have rumoured set numbers for now, but the beauty of LEGO Ideas is that we know what's in production for the theme based on approved fan designs.

The next set options chronologically

Since 21353 The Botanical Garden's original project by Valentina Bima was approved alongside the Twilight: Cullen House build by Nick Micheels, it's a good contender for one of the next LEGO Ideas sets early next year. The mansion model would still be joining a surprisingly populated market alongside 42639 Andrea's Modern Mansion and 31153 Modern House, though it has the strength of the franchise behind it at least.

Knowledge is Power by Danielbradleyy is also a good pick for an early 2025 LEGO Ideas set chronologically and it is confirmed to be a Target-exclusive set in the US when it does eventually release. Otherwise, the two upcoming LEGO Insiders rewards – Micro Rail Command Center by Falkorich and Moon Car by Enchanting Noodle – may have standard set numbers for another two of the rumoured slots.

Continuing with projects in the order they were approved, the Minifigure Prize Machine by Rob Vangansewinkel and Western River Steamboat from Aaron Hall would make sense to be released in 2025 too since they were approved in May 2024. While we don't know exactly what's next for LEGO Ideas, we can at least make an educated guess based on every LEGO Ideas set currently in production and the order in which they were approved.
