Why is it time for a new LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy set?

A new LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy set is rumoured to be on the way with details that raise the question of why 2025 is the time for another.

For the release of the four-episode series in 2024, three Rebuild the Galaxy models were released based on the twisted LEGO Star Wars universe – 75388 Jedi Bob's Starfighter, 75389 The Dark Falcon and 75393 TIE Fighter & X-Wing Mash-up – all of which are still available. A fourth set is rumoured to join that range later this year, but why remains unclear.

Reliable Instagram user fateful_04 states that 75414 is due to be another Rebuild the Galaxy model with 349 pieces and three minifigures for $49.99. That's rumoured to be coming in the summer – long after the limited series was released in September 2024. Note that there will be spoilers for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy from this point onwards.

75414 is rumoured to feature a Duros – Cad Bane's species and the character appears as a Jedi in the special alongside many other unusual characters aboard a ship that combines a Sandcrawler with an AT-AT. That vehicle is almost certainly too big for the rumoured 349-piece set but there's undoubtedly more of the special to cover in official sets and minifigures.

Jedi Cad Bane doesn't appear anywhere else in the four-part series, especially not alongside Sig and Dev Greebling. Unless this set covers the opening farm-centric scenes with a new Duros character, the inspiration for this rumoured 2025 model is unclear.

That leaves one more possibility for the reported Star Wars set to tie into – more Rebuild the Galaxy is on the way. The open ending of the series combined with the fact that Disney and Lucasfilm consistently refer to LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy as a 'limited series' rather than a special implies that a Season 2 is on the table – under the right circumstances.

This is only speculation based on a rumour though, as strange as a Rebuild the Galaxy set in 2025 would be, so take everything you've read with suitable caution just in case as nothing is officially confirmed.
