Five iconic Formula 1 helmets that could appear as LEGO sets in 2026

With LEGO Formula 1 helmets rumoured to be coming in 2026, we've got a few suggestions of iconic designs that would work well in bricks.

Over two years ago, one of our early predictions for a LEGO Formula 1 partnership was brick-built helmets. In 2026, the latest rumours suggest that we could finally be seeing that wish come true. With that rumour swirling, we've got some ideas about which helmets could make the cut.

We're just speculating here and there's no confirmation from the LEGO Group that LEGO Formula 1 helmets are indeed on the way. Even if they are, there are different ways the LEGO Group could go about designing them.

With other LEGO Formula 1 sets, the LEGO Group has seemingly preferred to lean into classic drivers, rather than focusing on personalised designs for drivers on the current or modern grids. This is presumably to avoid being instantly out of date: helmets based on 2025 drivers would be hard to turn around and already behind the times by 2026, whereas classic helmet drivers have already stood the test of time.

Bearing that in mind, we've picked out a few iconic Formula 1 helmet designs that could work well if immortalised in LEGO bricks.

Sir Jackie Stewart

Sir Jackie Stewart wore his Scottish heritage proudly on his helmet, with a strip of Royal Stewart tartan, from the House of Stewart. His classic helmet was otherwise fairly unadorned, which would lend itself well to a clean and simple look – while still being instantly recognisable as belonging to the three-time championship winner.

Ayrton Senna

Ayrton Senna and his yellow, green, and blue helmet – fashioned after the colours of the Brazilian flag in a nod to his own nationality – is perhaps one of the most famous in Formula 1 history. While Senna tweaked the specific design a few times over the years, the trio of colours remained. Any one of those designs would be a fitting homage to the late driver, ideal to pair with LEGO Icons 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna.

Michael Schumacher

Michael Schumacher is a true icon of motorsports, tying with Lewis Hamilton for most championships ever won at seven. As he has not yet been included in the LEGO x Formula 1 partnership, recreating his helmet would be the perfect tribute. With the enduring base colour of red throughout his time at Ferrari, Schumacher also often chose to include red, black, and yellow accents from his national German flag. To pay tribute to his long career, the LEGO Group could perhaps offer the chance to customise different helmet designs from throughout his time on the track.

Gilles Villeneuve

Another iconic helmet design belongs to Gilles Villeneuve, signified by the stylised red V on a dark background. The concept was designed by his wife Joann and become the unique calling card of the Canadian driver throughout his time racing. Once Villeneuve made his mark with Ferrari, the 'V' became linked to the racing brand, in no small part thanks to the matching colour scheme of red and black.

After his death, his son Jacques would go on to use different versions of the same design, using his own colours, as a tribute to his late father.

Nigel Mansell

Similar to Senna, Nigel Mansell and his helmet already appear in 10353 Williams Racing FW14B & Nigel Mansell and a larger model of the iconic helmet would be the perfect accompaniment to the LEGO Icons set. His helmet design has the colours of the Union jack, with aspects of this design carried over several helmets he wore in motorsport.

The angular shaping would be a challenge to achieve in LEGO form, but the likes of 76285 Spider-Man's Mask showcase how LEGO helmets and cowls can make use of stickers and prints to recreate what pieces cannot.
