Five LEGO 40805 Arcade Machine secrets you may have missed

Five LEGO 40805 Arcade Machine secrets you may have missed

There are a surprising number of nods to LEGO and video game history contained within the upcoming 40805 Arcade Machine.

The LEGO Group today revealed 40805 Arcade Machine, a 468-piece model due to launch on August 1, 2025. The set features a retro brick-built cabinet that opens up to reveal a mini gaming den inside, complete with plenty of details and an included player minifigure.

In addition, there are all kinds of secrets and nods to LEGO and video game history hidden within 40805 Arcade Machine, including these five fun references:

1 – Junkbot

Inside 40805 Arcade Machine is an even smaller orange arcade cabinet, one that offers up a seriously deep cut. Junkbot was an online puzzle platform game that was available on LEGO.com in 2001, but has long since been removed, with the aim being to play as the robot of the same name who has to eat all of the trash cans on each level to proceed to the next.

2 – Galaxy Explorer

Displayed on the wall of 40805 Arcade Machine is a tiny version of the long since retired 10497 Galaxy Explorer. Constructed from what apears to be just two pieces, the blue and trans-yellow ship has been referenced in a few other LEGO sets over the years, such as 80036 The City of Lanterns and another retro gaming console, 10306 Atari 2600.

3 – LEGO Insectoids

What looks to be a sticker on one of the interior walls of 40805 Arcade Machine appears to be a reference to LEGO Insectoids. The short-lived theme ran from 1998 to 1999 and featured the Zotaxians, a race of insect-like aliens that adapted their vehicles to look like giant bugs.

4 – Out Run

There’s a small TV contained within 40805 Arcade Machine that seems to be running the arcade classic, Out Run. Released by SEGA in 1986, the game placed players behind the wheel of a red Ferrari Testarossa, as they raced to reach five different destinations without crashing.

5 – Retro consoles

As befits a mini gaming den, we can spot plenty of faux retro consoles nestled inside 40805 Arcade Machine. Games machines on display as what are likely stickers seem very similar to an Xbox 360, a Game Boy, a PlayStation and more.

40805 Arcade Machine is due to launch on August 1 as a LEGO exclusive and will retail for £34.99 / $39.99 / €39.99.
