LEGO Ideas 21359 Italian Riviera has been officially revealed, whisking LEGO builders away to a sunny corner of the Ligurian coast.
Originally designed by fan designer Alex Sahli, the LEGO Group has now officially unveiled the final look of 21359 Italian Riviera, due for release on August 7 for LEGO Insiders and from August 10 for everyone else, retailing at £249.99 / $299.99 / €279.99. At 3,251 pieces, it captures a slice of life in a quaint fishing village nestled by the Mediterranean Sea.
The LEGO Ideas set includes three distinct buildings, featuring removable roofs and upper stories to allow builders to access the interiors once fully built, making up a gelato store, a diving equipment shop, and a fish market, as well as homes for the various storekeepers.
To man the shops and flesh out the build, there's a generous cast of 10 minifigures, an increase from the six in the original project. Those minifigures include a gelato store owner, a fish vendor, and a pasta-making nonna, as well as a host of tourists exploring 21359 Italian Riviera.
“I've always been passionate about travel, and Italy stands out as my favourite destination," said fan designer Alex. "Its blend of natural landscapes and architectural beauty is truly inspiring. My submission is centred around the villages of Cinque Terre, with some influence drawn from the Amalfi Coast.
"One of the key structural challenges I faced was incorporating buildings at various angles while ensuring overall stability. I'm especially proud of the vibrant colours and the textural variety throughout the build, particularly in the water, houses, and stonework. I'm also pleased with how the tile roofing turned out; it's a simple design, but it functions effectively and complements the overall aesthetic."
LEGO Ideas 21359 Italian Riviera will be available for LEGO Insiders from August 7, both online and in stores, before a wider release on August 10, priced at £249.99 / $299.99 / €279.99. In addition, LEGO Insiders who purchase the LEGO Ideas set between August 7 and 13 (or while stocks last) will also get an exclusive GWP, titled 5009325 Mediterranean Scene. From August 7, LEGO Insiders can also redeem 1,750 LEGO Insiders points for a dotted notebook.
