LEGO Ideas heads in One Direction with latest 10K submission

A LEGO Ideas fan designer’s reworked submission has hit 10K, with One Direction: What Makes You Beautiful now sitting in the second review of 2025.

The second LEGO Ideas review of 2025 is currently playing host to two music-themed headliners, with My Chemical Romance now joined on the bill by yet another fan-favourite band. One Direction: What Makes You Beautiful is a reworked version of a previous build from SJs Workshop, a creation that made it into the first 2023 review, but no further.

The LEGO Ideas submission is based on the band’s 2011 single from their debut album, Up All Night. One Direction: What Makes You Beautiful has been extensively redesigned, rebuilt and reduced in size and features a beach scene and camper van as featured in the music video of the same name, plus minifigures of Niall, Liam, Harry, Louis, and Zayn.

The LEGO Ideas model is now much more compact and manageable, with the designer stating that should also help keep the cost of the set down, should it eventually become a physical release that is.

Notable details in One Direction: What Makes You Beautiful include breaking waves on the shore, crab figures holding microphones, a ‘One Direction’ sign, a campfire set-up and a small beach hut front.

What Makes You Beautiful was a smash hit for the band when it was released nearly 14 years ago, reaching number one in multiple countries and going on to sell more than 4.8 million copies in the USA.

We’ll find out if the remixed version of One Direction: What Makes You Beautiful has what it takes to top the LEGO Ideas charts later this year, when the results of the second review will be revealed.
