LEGO Star Wars fans could unwrap the gift of some quality novelty minifigures if this rumoured set does make it onto shelves in 2025.
LEGO Star Wars has a long history of holiday minifigures, between minifigures sporting festive jumpers, Santa-fied versions of iconic characters like Darth Maul, Yoda, and Vader, and even specially designed characters, like Christmas droids or creatures from a galaxy far, far away.
According to a rumour from tandnbricks, corroborated by Clay_Bricks, we could be getting another dedicated holiday set in the form of 40806 Christmas TIE Fighter, following in the footsteps of the retired 40658 Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama. Details are few and far between for this rumoured build, with only an expected piece count of 697 bricks.
That said, it would feel like a massive missed opportunity if the ship-based set didn't include at least a couple of minifigures. If we had one complaint when we had 40658 Millennium Falcon Holiday Diorama for review, it was that it didn't quite go hard enough on the festive theme. Take away with the string lights and the Christmas tree and it didn't scream 'Christmas' – so here's hoping any future set goes all in, including the minifigures.

There are plenty of options to choose from but the most obvious would be a festive pilot of some kind. Given that Santa is known to fly across the skies to deliver presents around the world, it would be a fun twist on the usually ominous sight of a TIE Fighter to adapt it into a Christmas sleigh, complete with a Santa-fied TIE pilot.
Naturally, it should feature a red and white version of the all-black uniform, as well as an adapted helmet that is closer to Santa's iconic hat. Add in a sack full of presents and you've got yourself a Star Wars-themed sleigh for the ages. Such an approach would tie 40806 Christmas TIE Fighter in with 40020129 Christmas X-wing – despite that being a LEGO employee exclusive. By that logic, as well as an anonymous pilot, we could also see a Santa figure to match Yoda, perhaps Vader, the Emperor himself, or another Imperial leader.

It doesn't need to fit in with other sets to be fun though. There's plenty of festive imagery out there that could easily be adapted onto a TIE pilot uniform. Rustle up some holiday snacks with a gingerbread TIE pilot, complete with a candy-filled dashboard in the interior. Turn the Empire's minions into Santa's elves, taking the uniforms from black to green, complete with a bobble hat.
At the very least, we'd expect to see some new variants of a holiday jumper sported by any minifigures featured in 40806 Christmas TIE Fighter. Typically, these feature Christmas versions of logos from Star Wars, the like the Imperial symbol or Rebel insignias. In this case, TIE fighters have their own logo, so a jumper emblazoned with that symbol in holiday colours would line up well.
Those are just a few speculative ideas, of course. We'll need to wait for official confirmation from the LEGO Group before we know whether any of them are close to accurate – or even whether 40806 Christmas TIE Fighter is actually on the away.
