The LEGO Group has finally unveiled this year's LEGO Star Wars May the 4th sets, and all but one build is catering specifically to older fans.
Of today's May the 4th reveals, two of the sets aren't display-focused models – 75399 Rebel U-Wing Starfighter and 40765 Kamino Training Facility. The rest of the range is specifically targeting an older audience with display-centric builds. These two models are the only ones with significant play value, and even then, 40765 Kamino Training Facility is based on an extremely specific Clone Wars moment.
There's no denying that the 2025 May the 4th gift-with-purchase is appealing with those minifigures and a niche vehicle, but it's not something that a younger generation of Star Wars is likely to recognise after the animated Clone Wars series ended years ago.
Instead, this year's May the 4th selection demonstrates a shifting of attitudes for LEGO Star Wars, now leaning more than ever into nostalgia and display for an older fanbase.
It's all up for discussion in our new YouTube video, with further analysis of the upcoming sets and what they might imply for the future of the theme.
