LEGO tyres are evolving next month as a set of three slick variations are coming to four new sets, expanding the possibilities for LEGO race cars.
Four upcoming LEGO sets include an array of slick tyres of varying sizes that appear to be brand-new elements, drastically increasing the possibilities for all kinds of LEGO cars.
First seen – but not quite fully visible – in
To our knowledge, the tyres in 42171 Mercedes-AMG F1 W14 E Performance and 10330 McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna are also new and all of them appear to be made of hard plastic rather than the rubber of standard LEGO tyres.
The official renders for these sets may be deceiving us though and it could always be a different texture or rubber than we're used to in LEGO sets. We'd note that LEGO Speed Champions 76919 McLaren Formula 1 Race Car has printed designs on these tyres, which doesn't seem as feasible as rubber as it does on plastic though.
This paves the way for more accurate LEGO race cars in the future as slick tyres have not traditionally been offered for brick-built tyres, unless they are as small as the likes or 30589 Go-Kart Racer or at the same scale as 30300 The Batman Tumbler.
